Garland Cemetery Walking Tour

Explore the history of Garland through a self guided Cemetery Walking Tour.

Start your tour by picking up a tour guidebook at the Garland Landmark Museum @ 393 N. 6th St. Be sure to ask the staff for free gravestone rubbing materials. Then head out to Garland Memorial Park @ 1600 S. Garland. Parking is available at Williams Funeral Directors on the south side of the building and at the Knights of Pythias section of the cemetery on the access road.

Be sure to the refer to the Garland Cemetery Walking Tour guidebook for cemetery manners, history and a map of stops. You can also find rubbing instructions and symbols you will encounter on your walk at the back of the guidebook.

Designs on gravestones are used to commemorate certain aspects of the deceased's life. The image shown is a gravestone rubbing Patricia Raglin shared with the Garland Landmark Museum staff.
