Magical Memories from Garland's Christmas on the Square

We made magical memories at last week's Christmas on the Square in Garland. Here's a fun recap of the festive spirit that brought joy to the heart of our community.

The Holiday Cheer

The Square was aglow with festive lights, creating a merry and bright atmosphere. Families enjoyed various activities, including strolling through a lighted tunnel, encountering live reindeer, and experiencing the thrill of riding a mechanical reindeer. The enchanting Noggin' Tops set revealed a magical holiday scene, captivating all who peered into its lower windows. At the same time, the Snow Hill provided a winter wonderland. Other activities included train rides, an ice-skating rink, and the Rad Hatter crafting station, where attendees crafted unique and festive headpieces to add a personal flair to the festivities.

Christmas Shopping

Attendees indulged in a festive shopping experience at the holiday Urban Market, featuring unique items from local vendors. It was the perfect place to find unique gifts for loved ones and perhaps a few treats for ourselves.

Perfect Pictures for the Christmas Card

Amidst the festive lights, attendees had numerous chances for perfect holiday card photos. From a beautiful "Garland" display sign to meeting Santa, posing in a snow globe photo setting, and capturing immersive memories with a 360 Photo Booth, the event offered delightful opportunities to create cherished holiday snapshots.

The Tree Lighting

The Mayor and City Council members led the countdown for the beloved tree-lighting ceremony, illuminating the night with the spirit of the season. The redesigned Downtown Garland Square became a magical focal point for the community.

The Holiday Dance Party

The highlight of the evening was the Christmas cheer and festive spirit felt in front of the stage, creating a holiday dance party. Q the Band, featuring Grammy-nominated musicians, treated attendees to a captivating blend of musical brilliance and visual extravagance. The infusion of high-energy vibes had everyone singing along to holiday and dance favorites.

The Toy Drive

In the spirit of giving, the Garland Fire Fighters Association and Garland Fire Department collected new, unwrapped toys for their annual toy drive. The fire engine at Christmas on the Square served as a collection point, emphasizing the importance of community support during the holidays. There's still time to contribute; drop off your donation at any Garland Fire Department station or the fire administration building through December 20.

Christmas Continues Throughout Town

The festive atmosphere will linger as the Square remains aglow with the Christmas tree, stars, and lighted tunnel, providing a beautiful backdrop for holiday shopping and excellent opportunities for holiday photos. Don't miss the Holiday Storefront Decorating Contest – vote for your favorite through December 18, with storefront decorations staying up throughout the holidays.
