Juneteenth Committee Member Application

Juneteenth, or “Freedom Day,” is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. This holiday is considered the “longest-running African-American holiday.” The City of Garland produces an annual event to recognize this important federal holiday. Each year, the event elements are driven by community input. At this time, we are seeking five new members to join the committee. The committee members meet monthly to provide input on the day’s festivities and volunteer their time on the event day.

Deadline to apply: February 2, 2024 at 5 p.m.
