The Great Garland Restaurant Salsa Competition

Requirements


All entries must be submitted by a restaurant and not an individual and salsa must be made within a restaurant kitchen.

A maximum of 10 restaurants will be accepted into the contest. One entry per restaurant. No entries will be accepted on contest day.

All salsa contestants must submit a Temporary Food Permit Application to the Special Events department (specialevents@garlandtx.gov) with their Registration form. Participants will receive confirmation and further instructions prior to May 3 event.

Restaurants must be prepared to serve 2 gallons of salsa during the event.

Contestants will need to provide their own 2 oz. ramekins and/or chips for attendees to be able to do the tasting. Also, be prepared to share an ingredient list.

Restaurants are responsible for their own table, chairs, tablecloths, and any signage. A tent will be provided.

Restaurants can sell packaged salsa in their booths.

Booths should be ready by 6:00 p.m.

The Competition

Tasting will be open to the public during the Music Made Here Concert on Friday, May 3.

Contestants will be provided a number and a QR code that must be clearly displayed on their booth.

Public voting opens at 6:30 p.m. and closes at 8:30 pm. The public will vote with the QR code displayed on the participants' booth.

A winner will be announced on the main stage at the end of the concert.

Under no circumstances may any tasting cup be used twice!

Contestants must ALWAYS require a new, unused cup for each tasting.

All booth areas must be cleared and left clean by the end of the contest.


the Winner

The salsa with the most votes will receive a $500 prize, a trophy, and bragging rights for a whole year as the Great Garland Restaurant Salsa Competition winner!
