Honor loved ones and celebrate life, family, and tradition at Garland’s Día de los Muertos.

Explore 2D and 3D student artwork and altars, enjoy music and cultural performances, shop at El Mercado, and take part in creative activities for the whole family. Pick up a commemorative Día de los Muertos Garland T-shirt, available for purchase while supplies last. Look for lowriders, dancing horses, and the community procession, then close out the evening with cumbia from Los Komberz.

Explore the Celebration

Honor Loved Ones

Visit the community altar at the Granville Arts Center. Contribute by bringing a copy of a photo* of a loved one and stop at the Recuerdo writing station to share a remembrance. Explore Garland ISD students’ 2D and 3D artwork, including student-created altars. Student artwork will be on display October 24–November 8.

*Photos should be 4x6 inches or smaller.

Create, Play & Explore

Get creative with paper flowers, papel picado, clay pan de muerto, monarch butterflies, and picture frames during arts-and-crafts activities from 3–7 p.m. Families can also enjoy face painting, lawn games, and inflatables, including a bounce house, a soccer target, a basketball game, and an obstacle course.

Shop El Mercado

Browse handcrafted goods from artisans at El Mercado, with 40 booths inside The Atrium and more than 30 street vendors. Enjoy food truck offerings throughout your visit.

The Piñata Man

Join The Piñata Man, Alfonso Hernandez, for a giant traditional piñata community build and help paint a four-foot calavera.

Dallas Lowriders

Get a closer look at 12 lowriders from Dallas Lowriders, showcasing custom details and classic style at Garland’s Día de los Muertos.

Capture the Day

Find photo opportunities throughout the event, including Garland marquee letters, the event backdrop, the Downtown sign, a large tiered altar, and three calaveras.

Castillo de Flores flower truck

Visit the flower truck for photos from 2–5 p.m., then shop for flowers from 5–8 p.m.
