The City of Garland is pleased to announce a call for entries for the
2026 Juneteenth Celebration, featuring an exhibition spotlighting 2D visual artists inspired by Juneteenth.
Viewers will be encouraged to experience the complete exhibition during the Juneteenth Celebration and at
Epiphany Gallery following the event.
DATES AND DEADLINES
First date to submit entries: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Deadline for submitting entries: Friday, May 8, 2026
Notification of acceptance: Monday, June 1, 2026
Accepted art dropoff:
Tuesday, June 16 through Thursday, June 18, 2026 - During Epiphany Gallery's Business Hours
Exhibition at Event: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Exhibition in Epiphany Gallery: June 22 - June 28, 2026
Artist Reception at Epiphany Gallery: Friday, June 26
Art pickup:
Tuesday, June 30, through Wednesday, July 1, 2026 - During Epiphany Gallery's Business Hours
ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
- Open to artists currently living in Garland and the greater North Texas area
- Open to living artists of all ages
- All artist levels are encouraged to enter
ENTRIES
- Submissions must be entered digitally on the form below for consideration.
- Entries must be a 2D artwork; this includes Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor, digital, encaustic, etc); Drawings (graphite, pastel, ink, colored pencil, digital, etc.); Printmaking (etching, woodcut, lithography, engraving, aquatint, etc.); Collage
- Maximum width of 24 inches (includes frame or mat)
- You may submit up to three entries
- Please note that the Juneteenth event is outdoors, and the pieces will be displayed in a covered space outdoors for several hours during the event.
- Juror will select approximately 25 pieces for display
ACCEPTANCE
- Artists with accepted entries will be notified on Monday, June 1, 2026.
- *Artists whose work is not accepted will not be notified.
- A list of accepted artists will be posted on the Juneteenth website by Wednesday, June 10, 2026
- Accepted art must be delivered with hardware attached, ready to hang.
- Accepted art must be dropped off at Epiphany Gallery, between Tuesday, June 16, 2026 through Thursday, June 18, 2026 during their business hours (11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.)
FRAMING AND MATTING
- Outside dimensions of frame, mat, or canvas may not exceed 24 inches in width
- Frames should be simple in design (no ornate frames with three-dimensional or painted effects)
- Mats should be shades of white, off-white, beige, gray, or black
- Artwork should be ready to hang by wire - no saw tooth hangers
- Please be sure to include name, title, and contact information on the back
DAMAGE LIABILITY
- The City of Garland will take all precautions for artwork in the gallery on its premises during the run of the exhibition. However, artists should always insure their own work while it is out of their possession and are responsible for contacting their own insurance agents.
PERMISSION AND COPYRIGHT
- By submitting an entry, the Artist grants permission for the City of Garland to use the accepted image on its website, newsletters, brochures, promotional materials, and social media. Every effort will be made to maintain quality true to the submitted image, recognizing that the print or electronic medium may affect how the viewer receives the image. The Artist hereby certifies that he or she holds the copyright for this material and the copyright remains with said Artist. The City of Garland will display a notice that material must not be “downloaded” or copied. The Artist also certifies that the work submitted is original and does not infringe on any existing copyright.
ENTRY PREPARATION
- Prepare digital images for submission
- File naming - name the file using the Artist name followed by the artwork title (for example, “MarySmith_StillLifeWithApples.jpg”). Make sure the name and title in the file name match the name and title indicated on the entry form.
- Dimensions - images should be 1900 pixels or greater on the longer Dimension
- Image should show artwork only and NOT include mat or frame. Image quality matters. Get help if you need it to prepare your images.
- File size - JPG file size must be less than 5.0 MB. To see the file size, close your editing program, highlight the file, and Get Info or View Properties
- File format - Save in an RGB color profile as a “Baseline” (Standard) JPG file. Do NOT save as a “Progressive” JPG file, as it may not display properly for jurying.
- Number of images - You are allowed to enter only one JPG image for each artwork submitted
