Put down the potato chips and strap on those never before used athletic shoes. That’s right, underachievers, this one is for you! The City of Garland will host its inaugural Garland Guzzler 0.5K Race on Saturday, September 29th at Downtown Garland Square. That’s no typo, this is a POINT 5K… as in 546 yards, 500 meters, or even 1,638 feet.
This is a chip timed event that will help you train for that marathon you may or may not ever run. There is plenty of overnight accommodations near the course so you can rest comfortable pre-race and wake ready to run. Oh, and don't forget the race SWAG, you will be the highlight all your local establishment with your custom race medal and shirt. We have a few other surprises in the works so stay tuned to our social media platforms as detail become available.
If you can make that long treacherous journey to the fridge for that midnight snack, you can run this race… well, maybe. Join your fellow underachievers for a day full of racing glory and stay for Oktoberfest-themed party afterward with live music, traditional and not so traditional Oktoberfest games and of course food and drink. Festivities will start at 3 p.m. and with the 0.5K starting at 6:30 p.m. sharp!
